Whether you have a poor, fair, good, or excellent score, there’s almost always room for improvement. Working on how to improve your credit score can be a lengthy process, but taking these steps can help you significantly cut time costs in half!
Step 1….Request Your Credit Reports….If you live in the United States you can request your credit reports from all three credit agencies once a year by visiting AnnualCreditReport.com. It is a fairly simple process and all the steps are detailed on the website. If you live in Canada you can get your reports from either Equifax or Transunion.
Step 2….Review Your Credit Reports for Accuracy….Review your reports to ensure that all of the information contained within the report is accurate. Should you find any inaccuracies, contact the credit bureau for help in getting the information corrected.
Step 3….Make Your Payments on Time….Contact your creditors to come up with a repayment plan for each debt on your report. When you accrue any new debt, such as payday loans, credit cards, auto loans and any other similar forms of debt, pay it off in full each month or at best ensure you make each monthly payment on time. One practice I tend to make is, if the due date is the 15th of each month I do my best to pay a few days in advance, that way I am guaranteed to be on time.
Step 4….Focus on Financial Peace….Consider focusing less on how to improve your credit score and more on achieving financial peace. Paying off your debts and learning how to manage your debts in the future will give you financial peace of mind as well as a higher credit score.
Another way of improving your credit score is by saving money so you can create an emergency fund for those just in case situations….by creating a savings you will have money available to help you through the rough patches and you won’ t have to be concerned of ever getting behind on your debt payments again.
